Is there a Case to be made for George Bush? Just asking, so be easy with me! Please!

I try to look at all issues, subjects, the other side in a debate, and people as fairly and objectively as I can, even when I disagree or have previously criticized them. This is so even with the current and most powerful president ever in American history, in my humble opinion, George Bush. Even though I think the polls that have him at an approval rating of 25% give or take are propaganda of the MSM and others. I would be surprised if the man has a 10% approval rating in reality. As circumstantial evidence of this I offer the following. Recently I heard in the media that President Bush's autobiography is not generating too much interest from the publishers; please see the following link from, Think Progress. I would argue this reality tends to support my contention.

Publishers not interested in Producing Bush Memoir

"When George W. Bush leaves office in January, he’s likely to join other past presidents and write a memoir. However, publishers aren’t that interested in producing something from history’s most unpopular president at this point and are suggesting that he “take [his] time.” Even Marji Ross of the conservative Regnery Publishing said, “Certainly the longer he waits the better.” President Clinton received $15 million for his autobiography, “My Life,” although few expect Bush will command the same sum."

I have roasted George Bush at Americablog.com mostly, just as ruthlessly as anyone and laughed just as hard as anyone at the material of others that have roasted President Bush! But I also wrote the following post in italics below about George Bush sometime ago. I ultimately see the guy as another human being frankly and really don't care who likes it. I write that because the post pissed off the hardcore liberals. Some called for me to be banned from posting, insulted me and the like. For the record I piss off a lot of Republicans too!! But when I think of George Bush, I try to imagine what it would be like to have been born to one of the most powerful men in America, even more, in the world! Then I wonder what my conduct would be like honestly? I wonder how spoiled and indulgent and entitled and greedy I would be and would become as I grew. Throw this in with knowing I were in-line to have one of the most powerful jobs in the world and then actually to become the POTUS!!! Wow! What a trip that would be to live that out in this life. Then I go on to wonder how many of the critics would be had they actually been in George Bush's shoes. I also know some of the laundry in my own closet precludes me from criticizing this man to vehemently.

On President Bush

Embracing this President has been very difficult for me, nigh impossible. I have said very harsh things in the past about him. I never hated the man; intense dislike & distrust are apt descriptions. As time has gone on I realized more and more how unjustified this really was disliking him so intensely. The more I was honest with myself, I realized I am just as objectionable as he is in several of the same ways I find it in him. So I started with the man in the mirror. For instance, I have made dumb choices and I have lied to people and most incredibly I have lied to myself, (like many others in this life). I am wasteful at times; I have thrown away enough food some weeks to feed 5 adult darfurians, probably up to 10 kids. On throw away left over days I waste more food. I WASTE MONEY TOO! Most of the clothes & shoes I wear are made by what I consider underpaid labor, with the added disgrace of that labor including child labor! Sugar, fruits & vegetables, coffee, rice, tea, spices, oil, and more, all in my humble opinion are processed largely by underpaid, exploited labor. The milk I CONSUME is coming from farmers who are not making ends meet. I personally believe most of us in America have reason to feel guilty and could be accused of being complacent & indifferent to others and of having blood on our hands. This is human conduct in the way of empire & fruit of empires from ancient times til now. Make no mistake about it, America is an empire. In fact, the fruits of this empire are so plentiful, that SOME people choose to be homeless & pan handle because it can sustain a person. And the level of waste happening in America is an international disgrace & unfathomable really. Our garbage dumps say more about us than anything else we do, we can't hide them.

Back on point now, I am overconfident like President Bush, arrogant at times in my ignorance, boastful, stubborn & proud. I would like to have more education. The big similarity though is I have used UNJUSTIFIED AGRESSION, ANGER & VIOLENCE! At the least this president had oil, i.e. financial gain as motive for war, maybe more, maybe less. I have rarely had justified aggression in my life, usually a bad day or an excuse! I have made a lot of mistakes, just like this man! The real deal is I envy President Bush in a lot of ways, wealth primarily, I would love to be rich. At one time the night soap Dallas was a number one hit, for several years too! To me this is the mold George Bush comes from and it was popular TV viewing for years. That would say I am not the only one desiring or envious of wealth. I always respect & admire men or women of power, especially those who seize the moment, regardless of whom they are or what they represent. This I have always felt about the President. I must admit a lot of the discomfort I thought I felt though about George Bush comes from looking in the mirror this presidency really is providing for me and not liking what I see! At the end of the day I am as full of hypocrisy or flaws as I consider this man. I have no right to an extremely negative attitude toward George Bush in conclusion. By embracing him I embrace parts of myself. My wishes are that God blesses our country & that WE ALL find our way to better representing justice, prosperity & peace, that we may again lead the world in these endeavors.
